Huntr/x - Rumi Doll

 Rumi Doll - K-Pop Demon Hunters Huntr/x

🎵We're going up, up, up, it's our moment~🎵 As soon as the movie started rolling, I knew I liked Rumi. After cosplaying her at a convention, I simply had to crochet her!

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver (or any Worsted Weight #4) yarn in peach (skin color), white, black, gold, brown, & purple
Size F (#5 or 3.75 mm) crochet hook
 Size 1.75 mm crochet hook
 Gold embroidery thread/floss
 Yarn Needle
Polyester fiberfill (pillows work just as well!)
 Scissors

Notes:

  • Gauge isn't that important, so long as your stitches are tight and the stuffing won't show or fall out. You can use a different yarn and hook if so desired, just make sure you use a good combination that won't leave gappy holes.
  • The (parentheses) at the end of each Rnd/Row indicate the number of stitches at the end of that Rnd/Row.
  • I work in continuous rounds (aka spiral rounds), but if you prefer to join at the end of each round that's fine. I also decrease in front loops only because I've heard that it makes the decrease stitch less visible.
  • If you don't know what a Magic Ring is don't panic! It's also called Magic Loop or Magic Circle. Here's an alternative: If the pattern says 6 sc in Magic Ring you can ch 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook and join stitches. I prefer working with a Magic Ring because you can pull it as tight as you want so that the stuffing won't show. Just use whatever you feel most comfortable using.

2: sc in each gold stitch around (~19)
3: ch 12, sc to shorts close to bottom, ch 10, sc to belt. F/O with long tail, dangle tail in between belt and ch you just made (to make a "thinner chain" illusion), sew to belt. and weave in end.

1: ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from hook and remaining sts (1) ch1, turn
2 - 7: sc in each across (10)
F/O with tail for sewing panels together.

Position jacket arms so that rounds 11-12 are at the top (they will be the shoulder sections). Position the L-shaped front panels so that the longer side goes under the armpit area and the shorter side goes in the front. Sew jacket arms and front panels together (see pictures for reference).

For the jacket back panel, it is easiest to sew when you have the panels on the doll forme. Use pictures for guidance if needed.

Embroidery and accessories on jacket (using gold):
  • Sew around the outside edges of the jacket and sleeves.
  • ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and remaining sts, ch 6 and sc to end of chain. F/O and sew to right shoulder of jacket with the thicker side on the front.
Shoulder armor (using gold):
1: ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook and remaining sts, sc in back loops of chains, DO NOT JOIN OR CH 1 (16 around) turn work
2: sc in 8 across, do not ch 1 (8) turn work

11: dec, sc in 10, dec (12) ch 1, turn
12: sc in each across (12) ch 1, turn
13: dec x2, sc in 4, dec x2 (8) ch 1, turn
14: dec x4 (4) ch 1, turn
15: dec x2 (2)
16: sc around whole piece, hdc in internal corners (where rnd 5 started)
F/O leaving long enough tail for sewing to head.

Braid (make 3, using purple):
1: ch 75, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and remaining sts (74) ch 1, turn
2: sc in bottom and top to make hair slightly more rounded, for 30 stitches (30)
F/O and weave in ends.

The part of the braid that sits on her wig cap is the thick part you just made with row 2. Start by sewing two of the strands together about 1/4 - 1/2 inches (don't do too much because you need to braid), then sew the third one on top of the two flat ones you just sewed to create dimension. Braid the hair strands together and tie them with a strand of gold yarn pulled very very tightly. Sew braid to wig cap. Pinch braid to give it dimension/shape.

Braid embellishments (make as many as you'd like):
Using gold embroidery floss and 1.7mm hook, sc 5 in MR, join and F/O. Sew to braid, using pictures as guidelines.
Alternative: for a star pattern, follow pattern above, *ch 2, sc in 1 ch, sc in next stitch*, repeat * to * and F/O.

Earrings (make 2):
Using gold embroidery floss and 1.7mm hook, ch 7, sc 5 in each st, use ends to sew to ears.

Hope you enjoy!
